Doug serves as production counsel to a wide array of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, musicals and live experiences. He assists clients in the development, financing, production and rollout of live stage production. In addition, Doug works in tandem with local counsel to coordinate international stagings of his clients’ projects.

His client list of artists includes award-winning composers, lyricists, playwrights, performers, authors, directors, choreographers, designers, casting directors, music staff and some of the world’s preeminent cultural institutions.

Doug represents his clients in the commissioning, development, optioning and acquisition of rights for film, television and new media.

Doug works with start-up and early stage businesses on their organization, governance, expansion, financing and exit strategies. Throughout his career, Doug has represented numerous clients in the acquisition or sale of businesses, divisions and various tangible and intangible assets, as well as many high-profile transactions, including the sale of one of the world’s most recognizable intellectual property catalogues.

Doug is a six-time New York Super Lawyer Rising Star and two-time Tony Award nominee.
He has published articles on topics in transactional and entertainment law, frequently lectures on various elements of his practice, and has appeared on news channels such as MSNBC. He is also the General Editor of the Matthew Bender Entertainment Industry Contracts, published by Lexis Nexis.
As a theatrical producer, Doug’s credits include the Broadway productions of The Littler Dog Laughed and Reasons to Be Pretty as well as the Lucille Lortel Award-winning Off-Broadway smash, Buyer & Cellar.
Doug is a member of the New York State Bar Association. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and the Emory University School of Law.
